Planting Season is about to begin in Ketchikan

Planting is just around the corner here at Outpost Agriculture’s Revilla Station and this means that sustainably grown, local leafy greens will soon be a reality right here in Ketchikan! Each day brings us closer to accomplishing the numerous tasks that must be completed before we can set these wheels in motion once and for all. Most recently, we received a shipment of nutrients and tens of thousands of “plugs;” believe it or not, these plugs serve as the substate into which every tiny lettuce seed is planted. Basking under UV lights and enjoying water enriched with nutritious plant food, the seeds will sprout in these plugs and live out their first few weeks there. Many thanks to our friends at Alaska Marine Lines for delivering our precious cargo safe and sound!
